Good coffee (Starbucks).  Cheap breakfast — $2.99 for a breakfast sandwich.

I had the Bacon, Egg, Lettuce and Tomato.  It was pretty good.

The coffee was $1.55, so my total was $4.85.  Pretty good value.

Nothing very special, but not a bad breakfast grab.  I ate at the one on High Street, across from the Statehouse.  Nice view of the sidewalk, but no WiFi.

Mediocre, with eggs, bacon, pancakes and so on – ordinary breakfast food for this part of the country.

I had the buffet this week, but I think you could get a much better value by ordering what amounts to the same food from the menu.  Getting it on the buffet seems to add about $4 to the price.

It’s not bad, just not particularly good, nothing special, nothing that shines or attracts.  The coffee is OK, I enjoyed some oatmeal with granola and fruit, the sausage is all right, the scrambled eggs were pretty much all welded into a solid mass in the chafing dish – you know how that happens sometimes on a breakfast buffet.

My favorite thing about eating here is the view overlooking the river.  I don’t know of any other place downtown to get breakfast with a view of the river like this.

The menu said the buffet was $12.50, but when the bill came the buffet was charged at $13.50, so my total was $14.41. Not a great value. ( For about the same price you could get a really terrific breakfast buffet at the Mariott’s River City Grille.)   If you have to park in the hotel garage, that will add another $4 to your cost.

The food has almost always been very good here, in my experience, although the service quality has varied wildly. It seems to be under new kitchen management now, and today everything was just fine.

They serve Starbucks coffee, and I like it.

I had the breakfast quesadilla, and quite enjoyed it. It tasted fresh, and the guacamole and salsa served with it were good.  My friend had the cinnamon french toast with caramelized banana; he said it was pretty good. (Not as good as the cornflake-encrusted french toast they used to have, though.)

There’s a somewhat refined, relaxing atmosphere here, with nice furniture. It’s a good place for a business breakfast.

At $30 for two, it’s on the high end of pricing, but for an upscale breakfast experience it’s a decent value.

Breakfast pizzas.  Delightful outdoor seating area across the street from the Statehouse.

Good coffee.

I had the Lombard Lorraine Pizza, with egg, bacon, spinach and Swiss Cheese. My buddy had the Sausalito Sausage Pizza, with egg, sausage, scallions and cheddar cheese.  Mine wasn’t bad, but my buddy’s was better.  You can also choose from a wide variety of toppings to create your own pizza, which would probably be best of all.

There are also pastries and breakfast sandwiches available.

It’s a great place to sit and read the paper in the morning.

$3.29 for a breakfast pizza.  Pretty Good value.

Bright, cheerfully decorated downtown diner, with a nice, friendly atmosphere, serving breakfast 7 till 11.  Not a lot of vareiety:  eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and a couple of other items.

Today I had a Breakfast Special; 2 eggs, hash browns, and I chose the corned beef hash for the meat item. Eggs were OK; hash browns not too bad, with a nice crispy crust, but they were a little too greasy; the hash reminded me of the stuff that comes from cans, salty and mushy, not made from scratch, certainly. The raisin toast was OK.

Average quality diner food.

The coffee wasn’t very good, fairly weak without good flavor – worse than average diner coffee.

At $6.62 for my breakfast, I guess the value is a little better than average.

Cafeteria style, premade sandwiches and items cooked to order – lots of variety.  There are inside tables, but it’s a great place to eat outside downtown. It’s across the street from the Ohio Statehouse.

Good coffee, good food, and good value.

The Market Stand used to be one of my favorite breakfast places, but I was disappointed with my visit this week.

It’s a beautiful place, with one of the best views of anyplace in town for breakfast.  That’s the best thing going for it.

My two favorite menu items have been deleted from the card.  I think it must have something to do with food cost. Although the server denied it when I asked and she said it was because the poached eggs in a pot and the steak and eggs just weren’t popular, I imagine that food cost is probably a big concern and there’s no way those kind of items can match the profit of the bowl of oatmeal that costs $6.50.

The coffee is good, but the coffee cups were dirty with old coffee residue lining the inside, having been washed many times without a swipe on the inside from a scrubby pad.

My bagel and lox was good.  John’s eggs benedict was OK, but the English muffin was cut carelessly. My impression was that the food was prepared not with the attitude of giving us the best dining experience possible, but with getting the ticket out of the window.

The Market Stand has always been expensive, and at nearly fifty dollars for two people our breakfast here this week was very much overpriced.
